COSTLY BREATHING?

COSTLY BREATHING?

Significance of Breathing:

The very proof of the fact that we are alive is our Breathing.  Whether our life is lively is yet another topic.  It is  the breath alone that goes along with us throughout our Life, where in even our shadow fails some times.
Human body is a gigantic Industry, where various machineries work day and night, uninterruptedly.  The chief of this Industry is PRANA and this is not the breath but the vital force or life force.  This PRANA is regulated by how well one breaths.

The span of one’s life is determined by the number of breaths one breath.  Also, breathing is correlated to our mental and emotional life.  When you are angry, your breath is fast and when you are calm your breath is smooth.

How well you breathe?

While you inhale see that your abdomen expands and while you exhale you see that your abdomen contracts.  This can be understood with the help of a balloon.  If air is filled, the balloon expands and if the air is released from it it contracts.  It is the same in our breathing too.

You may ask, does the air goes to the abdomen?  No, no, it goes to the Respiratory organ-Lungs but, if the abdomen expands, the diaphragm moves down, thereby expansion of the lungs is possible resulting in a complete inhalation to our lung capacity; similarly while you exhale, when the contraction of the abdomen takes place, the diaphragm goes up helping the contraction of the lungs and a complete exhalation is achieved.

For the beginners of yoga, it is insisted that only through utmost concentration this abdominal movement is possible and if your mind wanders somewhere this movement will become erratic.

Does the breath stops?

No, it never till the end.  But there are exceptions in yoga.  For example, while practicing Kabhalabati Pranayama, where active exhalation and passive inhalation is insisted, after practicing for 60 seconds you can see ‘the automatic cessation of breathe’ for a few seconds.  There will be a total calmness within.

Apart from this, people practice the stoppage of  breath while swimming, in accidents, if the patients reach the 'coma' stage the breath stops for a while and doctors are getting confused.

In Yoga, the cessation of breath after the practice of kabalabati will be a very very peaceful state and it can be felt and sensitized and can never be understood otherwise.

CONCLUSION:

The value of breathing is much more than any costliest thing in this World.  It is more than the money you deposit in Banks as savings for your Life time.  It is true that MONEY  can make anything and everything in this World, but it is also true that you cannot make anything without Breathe.

Breathe is similar to that of ELECTRICITY; it cannot be saved.  Consumption should be and can be reduced-that is, slow breathing is insisted.  Normally we breathe 16 to 20 times in a minute.  But it increases,  whenever you become emotional, angry, shouts, ....
The number of breaths decreases when you are calm, when you meditate, when you sleep...
Yoga-Pranayama-breathing techniques helps you to save your breath and ultimately your life-span.
